Bathing, Toileting, and Hygiene Care
We can help seniors feel positive about their appearance through regular bathing, grooming, and hygiene assistance. Bathing can provide many benefits for clients, including stimulating circulation, refreshing the body and being a source of relaxation. Our caregivers are trained to lessen any potential embarrassment or discomfort while assisting your loved one with hygiene related tasks. Incontinence is common for adults after undergoing surgery or experiencing other medical issues. Comfort Keepers maintain the dignity and self-esteem of seniors and other adult clients as we assist with daily toileting assistance. Through this caring approach, our experts help lessen the embarrassment clients may feel when these home care services are performed.
One of the main sources of injury for seniors is slipping and falling, often after a bath or shower. Comfort Keepers will keep your loved one safe from harm while helping them maintain a healthy level of hygiene. Our trained staff can even use special hoists for safely bathing clients with mobility issues.
Mobility Assistance with Transferring and Positioning
Mobility assistance helps seniors and disabled people maintain as active a lifestyle as possible when considering their age, ability and overall health. Keeping mobile can provide many benefits for physical health, including better energy and stamina throughout the day, improved cardiovascular health and improved digestion and sleep. Comfort Keepers can accompany the client on a short walk around their neighborhood or a local park and provide further encouragement and reminders to complete other prescribed exercises.
Comfort Keepers are trained to move and place clients in correct posture positions to promote health and safety.
Proper transferring and positioning to and from beds or chairs eliminates pressure areas on the skin, reduces the possibility of bed sores, muscle weakening or stiffening and encourages proper breathing, digestion and elimination.
Dietary Needs and Feeding
For clients who need help feeding themselves, the loss of independent eating can be hard to accept. Our care team understands this and are particularly sensitive, making the extra effort that can turn mealtime into a more enjoyable social time. In addition, Comfort Keepers will help ensure clients stay on prescribed diets recommended by their doctor to prevent or control a wide variety of medical conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure or diabetes.
Comfort Keepers Companionship Services handle even more tasks for seniors and adults living independently. Keeping the house clean or taking your loved one out on an errand sets Comfort Keepers apart from other in-home caregivers.
Our Comfort Keepers companionship home care include:
- Meal Preparation
- Laundry Services
- Light Housekeeping
- Grocery Shopping and Errands
- Incidental Transportation
- Medication Reminders
Conversation and Companionship
Our Comfort Keepers provide clients direct companionship by engaging in conversations or even sitting down to share a meal. Social contact like this is proven to enhance seniors’ health, happiness and quality of life. Sometimes, our clients just need someone to talk to about their day. Our Comfort Keepers provide a ready ear for their needs.
Light Housekeeping, Meal Preparation, and Laundry
Our light housekeeping services cover most domestic tasks. Often, seniors want to join their caregivers in housework, helping them feel useful and needed. Strenuous or difficult tasks can be left to Comfort Keepers for client safety. These tasks include vacuuming, dusting, sweeping and mopping floors throughout the house, especially in the kitchen and bathroom. Please be aware Comfort Keepers does not provide any outdoor cleaning or maintenance services.
Many seniors do not have the ability to shop for groceries or fix a well-balanced meal on their own.
Comfort Keepers can prepare hot, delicious, nutritious meals based on their clients’ preferences to help them get the proper nutrition they need.
Clients who are physically able may assist or direct meal preparation as they wish.
Comfort Keepers will tend to the laundry either at your home or at a laundry facility. We do everything from washing and drying to ironing, folding and putting clothes away. We work to ensure each client’s laundry is done according to his or her preferences. This can be as specific as how to fold clothes or how to separate out fabrics.
Incidental Transportation including Grocery Shopping/Errands
With many seniors no longer able to drive, Comfort Keepers will shop for groceries at the stores their clients prefer and run errands like picking up prescriptions or going to the post office for them. Clients may choose to stay home or come along and help with the shopping and errands as an excellent way to stay active and engaged. Comfort Keepers will use any coupons provided by the client. Getting a senior or homebound person out and about is good for the mind, body and spirit. Our Comfort Keepers provide incidental transportation for clients, allowing them the freedom to go shopping, visit friends and family and attend other activities. They can go to medical appointments, church services, the barbershop or beauty salon and any other place the senior chooses.
Although Comfort Keepers cannot administer medications, we can help ensure clients take their medications as prescribed. We will read the labels on medication and make sure the medicine is being taken at the proper time and in the proper way. We also assist with picking up new prescriptions from a pharmacy and taking your loved one to a doctor’s appointment for healthier living.
Around the clock care
Depending on the client’s needs, Comfort Keepers can provide care for just a few hours a week or provide care that is around the clock. Our different and customizable plans can meet the right level of care your loved one needs.
